Who’s Home for Turkey Day?

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I have yet to decide if I want to go home for it, or if I want to invite a few of the guys over here for dinner. On one hand, I love seeing my family, but on the other I just really don’t feel like driving anywhere. If I invite a few of the guys over for a guy’s only Thanksgiving, we can watch football and smoke a turkey in the smoker. I can have them each bring something to either cook or something already cooked. Even men have our specialties.

My buddy Dave said he wasn’t going to fly home this year, so I know that he will need somewhere to go eat turkey. I am sure he will like the idea of a gathering here at my house. I think I’ll ask around and see how many others are going to stay in the area instead of going home. If I can get at least 4 others, it will be worth it to me. And the more, the merrier!

I just have to deal with telling mom that I am not coming this year. I am sure she will be understanding, and with all the people who show up at her house, she won’t miss me that much. She is definitely going to be too busy, as she always is. I’ll miss her great cooking, but the drive is just too much for a quick trip north. I need to stay up there for at least 4-5 days to make it worth the time on the road.

So You Think You Can Dance

Without a doubt, my favorite summer reality television show is So You Think You Can Dance (SYTCYD). Aired on Fox (which is channel 29 on our Directtv), this is like American Idol for dancers. There are the open auditions at the beginning of the season, then the next round in Las Vegas that puts the dancers through a rigorous week of challenging routines, and then the choosing of the finalists. This year, SYTYCD changed things up by only picking out five gal finalists and six guys (rather than the usual ten and ten). Also new this year is the presence of some All-Stars; these are twelve dancers who were contestants in the past and were fan favorites. How awesome it is to see Twitch, Mark, Neil and Ade each week this year! This new format where the finalists from Vegas are paired with the All Stars was a little iffy at first but seems to be working; it’s certainly entertaining. There’s also a wide variety of routines the dancers are asked to do from hip-hop and crump to salsa, jazz and Bollywood. This really is a show for everyone.

Online Shopping Revolutionized

I found this post that I copied and pasted below (in quotes” that I had written back in March of 2009. I have to laugh at the way I sound being so thrilled with the benefits of online shopping. Eight years ago many of us were just beginning to learn our way around the Internet and starting to take advantage of the knowledge that is now available with just a few key strokes . Knowledge certainly is power.

So not only can we find information about the companies that are still working in the old brick and mortar stores, like finding what our local guitarcenter hours are at their various stores located all across the country, as well as being able to stay put and do that shopping without even leaving the house. Using the Internet for all that it has to offer these days.

“Online shopping is definitely going strong these days, people are doing all that they can to save their money in every way possible. The Internet makes it so you don’t have to leave the house, so there is no need to pay the high prices for gas to go running all over town with. Not having to deal with parking issues and grumpy sales associates is a major plus also.
Many of the shopping sites only list stores that have paid them to put their link on them, while ShopWiki has all of the stores listed for your use in reviewing and purchasing numerous items online.
With golf season fast approaching I have found the need for a new pair of golf shoes, so I’ve been spending some time looking around and comparing prices and styles from various merchants, wanting a good looking and good quality foot wear for the sport, but not wanting to pay the high prices that I had seen at the mall the other week when I had the misfortune of spending a few hours there with a friend. So ShopWiki has made the task so very much easier with the way that they have revolutionized online shopping.”

The Slurpee

I was speaking the other day about the amount of 7-11 stores that are seeming to take over. I remember a song back in the 70’s that came out about the Slurpee. I thought that I might be able to find it on YouTube.com, but to no avail I couldn’t find it. This is the first time that I have not been able to find a song on YouTube.com, bummer. But I did find a funny video that I wanted to share here.

The Grande Shores Resort in Myrtle Beach S.C.

So I went online earlier today and found some real decent Myrtle Beach vacation deals on the website of http://www.grandeshores.com/default-en.html. South Carolina sounds real nice right now, a great beach, awesome golf courses and the best night life that any beach has to offer on the east coast. And since BP has messed up most of the other beaches that people have flocked to each and every summer Myrtle Beach is really swinging right no. I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to find a decent Myrtle Beach hotel at this point in the game, but taking a few minutes online did the trick right nicely for my needs and wants this summer.

I used to go to Myrtle Beach with my family, back in the day. We all enjoyed the golf courses in that area and all the other things that Myrtle Beach has to offer. It has been a few years since I’ve been there and I can’t wait to see how much is still the same, yet I’m sure that there has been a good amount of change as well. Hopefully it’s all good. The Grande Shores Resort advertises Southern hospitality and that sounds good to me!
