I have to say it, I just have to! Father’s Day sucks for bachelors! There it is, out of my system. I’m good now. What had me so stirred up, good natured of course, was that my date called to cancel because her Dad was in town and her and her brother were going to spend the weekend with their Dad. Which I knew was a good thing, and I passed it off as being no big deal, you know, so she wouldn’t either feel bad or take insult. Because you never know with women, especially women over 30, about how they are going to perceive something. And with my luck, it’d be the worst possible scenario. So I learned a long time ago not to push buttons just because they’re there. Well I still have a couple of books I haven’t read yet, and you never know, some lonely, lovely, female friend may call me over the weekend and tend my wounded pride!!
I consider myself to be a very lucky man in the fact that I have been blessed with two very healthy parents that are still basically independent even though they are both in their 80’s. And the fact that we live pretty close to each other, less than a hour’s drive, has turned into such a positive thing for us all. My other siblings have all moved out of state and we don’t see each other near as much as we all would like, but when we do manage to get everyone together we make the best of it and enjoy the moment as well as we can.
There was talk a few months back about the possibility of trying to get us all together to celebrate Father’s Day, but things just didn’t work out so well and we had to pull the plug on that idea.
So, Father’s Day is coming up real soon, I guess I better start looking around, thank God for the Internet, it will make shopping a whole lot easier that having to go out and dealing with traffic and the weather and all that other bothersome nonsense that goes along with shopping in the real world.
They call me the Doctor because of the way I “operate”. Not that it’s a bad thing, because it isn’t. I’m sort of what you might call a “horse trader”. I buy, sell and trade my way through making a living. Sometimes the living is good, better than good actually. But sometimes it isn’t much of a living at all. Especially when the economy is in such a slump as whats going on right now. But it is what I do. Although there are times when the ladies simply take me away from business at hand and remind me that life is grand and that there are many ways for a man to enjoy his many freedoms. Boating, flying, hang gliding, scuba diving, just spending time outdoors and enjoying the view. And lets face it guys, the view is good as long as there are long slender legs attached to fine looking woman to block the view of less interesting subjects!!
