Playsets and Good Weather

This weekend I am heading out-of-state to my kid sister’s house, which is just over the state line actually. But it is still taking me out of my home state and is usually a five and a 1/2 hour drive to get there. It is a trip that is long over due and I’m getting excited seeing her, her husband and their 3 sons.

If the weather is nice, and it is supposed to be a good one, I am sure we will be spending a good amount of time outside enjoying their spectacular backyard that they have worked so hard on since moving there 6 years. I’m sure the boys would rather be outside since we all have been cooped up all winter long. They have all ready been grilling and eating on the patio for the last couple of weeks. Her husband is a good cook, especially outside on the grill.

The playsets virginia beach have arrived that they ordered online so I’m sure I’ll be helping them get assembled and ready to use by the boys and their friends. So it will be a good productive visit and I’ll be properly fed and entertained. Let’s hope the weatherman’s forecast will be accurate and let the games begin.

Brother Is Still Shopping For The Best Stair Lift

I heard from my brother and his wife through an email that I received last night, I have cut and pasted the main part of the email below:

In an effort to get our house a bit more handicapped accessible, Luvie and I have been looking around at numerous stair lifts. Luvie has now found a company on-line by the name of AmeriGlide.com that has a very large selection of Ameriglide stair lifts, Vertical Lifts, Wheelchair Lifts, dumb-waiter and Elevators, which are things that we may have to consider at some point as well.

Luvie’s parents are still alive but aging quickly and their health has been deteriorating each year. We have decided that when they need to leave their home, which will most definitely happen at some point in the near future, that they will come and live with us. None of the other family members are set up or capable of such a drastic lifestyle change, what with different career demands and most still have little ones running around the house and attending schools.  So that leaves Luvie and I to come to the aid of these lovely and gentle senior citizens. The weather here in California is best suited for them anyway, our climate doesn’t change as drastically as most of the other states do and the sun is usually around to make people feel better, I have found.

So AmeriGlide seems to have the best variety of stair lifts and has a good general warranty of ten years for the drive-train, and five years for the parts, which is very reasonable for any stair lift, we are finding out. A stair lift is our main concern now because it would be very unsafe for these folks to be attempting to go up and down the several flights of stairs that our house currently has, and both of them are going to be needing something like this, a fall could be disaster when you are of their age group. These folks don’t mend as easy as they use to and a broken hip usually means that things will go down hill from there, and we don’t want to take any risks.

Slippers Virsus Orthopedic Insoles

I thought I had myself some comfortable slippers. I bought them new last fall, and I’ve been wearing them around the house almost every day since then. They have well padded soles, and are the “scuff” style that you just slide your feet into. I couldn’t wait to get home and take off my shoes and put on my new styling slippers.

Well about a week ago I bought some of those orthopedic insoles that you can purchase just about everywhere, that you put into your shoes to make your shoes more comfortable, and now I have to tell you that I just hate taking off my shoes and putting on my slippers!  And the past three nights I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night with cramps in my feet; I think it was because I was wearing my slippers all the time and my feet wanted the extra support of my shoes. So I think I need to buy new slippers, and maybe put the orthopedic insoles in the slippers. Go figure!

The Busy Month Of March

It is hard to believe that the month of March is quickly approaching us. March is a busy month, besides the beginning of spring and all that goes along with that. If the groundhog was right we are to expect an early spring which I don’t know of anyone that isn’t happy to hear that.

The month of March brings a ton of birthdays to friends and family. I always know that I will be broke in the month March because of all the birthdays. And I’m still trying to recover from Christmas just a few months ago. Right now I am looking at various electric guitars for sale online to give to my nephew on Easter which is in March this year, along with Daylight Savings Time, Saint Patrick’s Day and if I remember correctly Palm Sunday.

I will be seeing my nephew at the family Easter dinner and since I didn’t get to hook up with him over the Christmas holiday season I figured I’d make it up to him on Easter. He is a good kid, the oldest and the one that seems like he just might make a contribution in this world some day. Guess he is really my favorite. I was there when he was born and baby sat him up until they up and moved away to Colorado a few years ago. It will be good to see them all again. I will pull him aside of course and present him with it in private, so as not to draw a lot of attention from all the others that will be there that day.

UMT Marine

If I have the chance to travel to the DC area next week for an interview I hope to have a couple extra days to drive around the area and do some spring sightseeing. One thing I’ve always wanted to do is book a “boat and breakfast” package to sleep aboard one of the sailboats in the Annapolis Harbor. The Windward is a 74 foot sailing schooner that takes people on 2 hour tours during the day. On Saturday nights they allow up to four couples to book their special “boat and breakfast” package which includes a 2 hour sunset sail on the Chesapeake, docking in Annapolis for you to have dinner downtown, and then return to the ship around 11pm to sleep aboard the schooner in one of the 4 staterooms. In the morning you are served breakfast on deck and you have until 11:00 am to re pack your duffel bag and head out. It sounds like great fun, and with the right mix of other couples could be a magical evening for everyone.

There are three areas in Maryland that I love and would certainly consider living there if I had a good employment offer. Frederick, Baltimore, and Annapolis. To be honest, I love Annapolis, the state capital, and have spent dozens of weekends there on sailboats and in bed and breakfasts for summer weekends. I’m sure that UMT Marine, with their website of http://www.umtmarine.com does a lot of work for people and plenty of businesses in that area. They would expect nothing less than the best and UMT Marine is knows for their commitment to old world, custom crafted marine technology. You really should check out their website, it’s pretty impressive and full of interesting information in the manufacturing of Custom Marine equipment.

If I get the job offer I’m expecting, I won’t hesitate to call a broker to get started looking for a house. Spending some time tonight on various websites to get a feel for prime real estate in the Baltimore area and also checked out the Annapolis area so that when I have my job interview next week I’ll know what I can handle for housing and relocation expenses.
